There goes the neighborhood!

So, it's funny that I posted a blog yesterday about our lawn needing to be mowed because when I got off work yesterday, my boyfriend told me that he and our roommates were working on getting it mowed. And while they were out in the yard, with the lawnmower, the neighbor who lives behind us drove by, saw them, and stopped. She said, "Can you guys please mow your lawn?" and they said, "We are, that's what we're working on right now." and she said, "Oh, thank goodness! That's really great, cause your lawn not being mowed really makes the neighborhood look bad." Then she pulled into her driveway, got out of her car, and proceeded to come to the back fence and tell them 7 more times that our lawn not being mowed "really makes the neighborhood look bad." When I heard this, the only thing I could think of was, "Our LAWN makes the neighborhood look bad? The same neighborhood where someone has set my roommate's bed on fire? The same neighborhood where ALL of our cars have been broken into in our driveway? The same neighborhood where drug addicts and dealers roam the streets at all hours of the day and night? The same neighborhood where the crazy guy down the street regularly stands in his yard, screaming and yelling for hours straight, then climbs up onto his roof to do the worm? Oh, yeah, our lawn is TOTALLY taking this neighborhood down a couple of notches."

Anyway. :) Our lawn is now mowed, so the neighbors can rest easy for a couple of weeks, at least. And I got a haircut yesterday, which is always a good time. It's so relaxing and nice to go to the salon. Now I see what my grandma was talking about all those years...

I'm also halfway through the only Augusten Burroughs book I haven't read yet.

I highly recommend giving him a read, his books are fabulously hilarious. Now he just needs to write a few more...

Hope you're all having a lovely Wednesday!
