What happens when you turn on the wrong burner, set the food you're about to cook next to it, then wonder what smells funny for 10 minutes before then wondering why your water isn't boiling and suddenly realizing....oh, shit.
P.S. This was not a box of multi-colored noodles.

Done that too! I've had my stove for 7 years or so, and still have issues with which burner is which. An even cooler one I did was put some brownies in the oven to keep from the dog eating them again..(one of those glass pyrex dishes with the plastic top) and forgot about them. Turned on the oven the next day and wondered what smelled.. haha. Was crazy trying to get a flaming plastic brownie dish from the oven!
