Currently I am eating the best thing to ever happen to potatoes. Tator tots. Tator-f'ing-tots. Delicious.
I also have a terrible song in my head. "Butterfly Kisses". This is a super cheesy song that came out about a million years ago when I still lived at home with my parents. One night, I was spending the night next door at Holly's. Holly always insisted on leaving the radio on all night long, even though I seriously hate sleeping with a radio on. It's not so much falling asleep to the radio that bugs me, it's the inevitable moment when I wake up in the middle of the night and the radio is still on. For some reason, it irritates the bejesus out of me. (Yes, I said "bejesus".) So this one night, I was staying at her house and woke up to "Butterfly Kisses". I fumbled around in the dark and turned the radio off, and for the moment, all was right with the world. The next day, I found out I had somehow broken the CD player in the process of turning the radio off. I'm not sure how I broke it, but I do know it never worked again.
But anyway. The reason I mention it is because this song reminded me of a conversation that took place at my parent's house the other day, while Lauren, Kyle, and I were all there to have pizza and pie in honor of Lauren's birthday.
We were all talking, and somehow came upon the subject of marriage. My dad commented that none of us were ever going to get married, and when I asked him why he said that, Kyle said, "He also told me the other day that he doesn't think we're ever going to have babies." My dad put on his best pout and said, "Well, all of my friends have grand-babies and I don't have any grand-babies. It's not fair." To which Kyle replied in her most serious, sympathetic tone, "Aww, Dad. Do you want me to go get knocked up?"
P.S. Lauren has an art show at the Secor Building on June 14th and the after-party is at Mickey Finn's. Everyone who can, should be there. Darren, you are totally coming to this with me while you are in town. And no, you don't get any say in the matter.
Have a lovely, humid Thursday, everybody!
