There Is No Charge For Awesomeness.

Prologue: I made the words of this post red today in honor of the searing heat outside.

It is SOO hot outside. Seriously. HOT. And it's been HOT for a good week or so now. And just in time for all this hotness, the air conditioning in my car has decided to take a crap. I've been told by at least 2-3 people that it costs about $1000 to fix. So guess who's gonna have a lot of boiling hot car rides this summer? Yup, me. It's cool, though, cause the air conditioning in our apartment works. And it's a big bunch of fucking awesome everytime I walk through the door...

I was thinking today that it seems like around here, when it's summertime and gets to be extremely hot, I forget about what it was like when it was wintertime and super-cuss-a-lot-everytime-you-walk-outside freezing cold out, and vice versa. In the winter, it gets so cold here and winter seems so endless that you think, "There is NO WAY it ever gets hot here. There is just no way I will ever walk outside without layers of clothing. There is no way I will ever want to wear tank tops and swim in a cold pool." Then summer comes and I think, "Holy crap, I can't believe there is ever a time of year when it is OK to wear more than almost nothing and holy shit, someone bring me a pool of ice cubes to dive into!"

Anyhoo. It's hot out. Now for a quick weekend recap.

On Friday, I went to see "Kung Fu Panda" with Bethany and her daughter Harmony. It was so freakin' cute and really funny. I keep wanting to quote it but no one but Bethany will understand. About 10 minutes into the movie, Harmony turned around and noticed the projector up in the back of the theater, and was so enthralled with it that I think she watched the projector more than the actual movie screen. Kids are so funny. Later on, I dropped Cory off at Bethany's so he could play video games with Bethany's husband, Al, and Bethany and I met up with Lauren at Mickey Finn's. Lots of gabbing and good times ensued. On Saturday, Cory and I went to the Old West End Festival with my mom and I got a really pretty, hand-made bracelet and also the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's", which I bought for 50 cents. I've never seen that movie, but I've always wanted to and you can't even rent it for that cheap, so...sweet! After the festival, Cory and I laid down in our air conditioning and accidentally took a 2 hour nap. And missed half of our friends' BBQ. But, we did make it for a good chunk of the BBQ, and were there long enough to witness a lot of drunken ridiculousness (everyone else's, not ours). And I was peer-pressured for the first time in ages, and you guys- I totally didn't cave in! Sign me up for an after school special! (Remember those? My favorite was the one where the girl from "Life Goes On" goes crazy and murders Tori Spelling with an apple knife).

Anyway. On Sunday, Cory and I went to church and then out for breakfast. We didn't do much else, but we did get pizza and slushies for dinner. Then Kyle came over and we all watched "Semi-Pro", which was pretty funny. Listen to the cast of this movie: Will Ferrell, Andre Benjamin, Woody Harrelson, Andy Richter, Will Arnett, Ed Helms, and tons more I'm probably forgetting about. And I'm just putting this out there: Andre Benjamin is the epitome of cool.

One last thing. I heard the song "Waiting for a Star to Fall" when I went to the pet store on my lunch break today. That song always reminds me of roller skating at Ohio Skate when I was little. Ah, nostalgia. Cause that's where you belong, in my arms, baby, yeah!

$1000! boy - never take your car to those people. I just had two cars that the A/C went out on - one cost $50 - was just to refill the coolant, and the other was some pump that went out - $100.00. I bet yours is something simple. Definitely worth getting checked out. Gotta have the A/C on days like this - fuck the gas crisis.. I'm running my A/C!!
